What are the rooms like at the residence hall?
Each room at Ptarmigan Hall has its own sink and a vanity. There is a sleeping area, a dresser, bed, nightstand, and desk. The toilets and showers are shared with the neighboring room. There are separate floors for girls and boys.
There are 88 rooms at Ptarmigan Hall. Students share their residence with a roommate.
What kind of activities are offered at the residence hall?
There are eight residence advisors who for students to provide activities, recreation, and educational enrichment for students. Four residence advisors work with the girls and four residence advisors work with the boys.
Activities offered students include:
• Field trips.
• The Northern Lights writing festival.
• A music program and music festival.
• A film festival.
• A visual arts program and festival.
• Dances and games in the student union building.
Study time is offered after school during the week, with individual instruction provided by the residence hall staff.
There is a gymnasium with a weight room and racquetball court open to GILA students. Students regularly use the gym to work out, shoot hoops, and relax.
What are the residence hall hours?
Students leave the dorms between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. to go to breakfast and head to classes. Students return after the school day is over from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m., depending on their tutoring schedule.
